Mitsubishi Concept Vehicles

Mitsubishi is one of the leaders in automotive innovation.
There are seven great concept vehicles that you need to know about.

Mitsubishi concept vehicles are some of the most brilliant out there. These models are not in production yet, but are well on their way to becoming the vehicles of the future. To see the amazing cars that Mitsubishi currently offers, please take a look at our inventory and stop into our dealership at 1901 Dual Highway in Hagerstown, MD, where we’re just a short drive from Funkstown Community Park.

Mitsubishi Concept GC-PHEV

The Mitsubishi Concept GC-PHEV is perhaps the most futuristic looking concept vehicle out of the seven we have information on. This full-size Hybrid SUV Mitsubishi concept vehicle has 4WD, a 3.0L V6 Engine and an 8-Speed Automatic Transmission. It will have the MMC active safety technology and “connected car” technology. These systems include a danger detection system with automatically activates the safety systems in the SUV if it detects a problem and alerts the driver to seek repairs or maintenance. The Mitsubishi Concept GC-PHEV looks very similar to current SUV body types, with two major differences. First is the rear-hinged back-seat doors which opens the cabin up completely to the outside world, allowing for easy access to the interior. The other major exterior design change is the almost entirely glass roof. The interior has four seats that, because of the design, appear to be floating within the cabin. The dashboard and passthrough also seem to be floating within the body of this SUV and are connected as one piece.

Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV

The Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV is a compact SUV powered by a 1.1L Turbocharged MIVEC Engine and high-capacity battery. It will also have the MMC active safety technology and “connected car” technology. The design is sleek and improves upon the current body of SUVs. The rear of the SUV tapers back and has smaller windows than what we are currently familiar with. The front grille spans the entire nose of this Mitsubishi concept vehicle, both horizontally and vertically, and seamlessly merges with the elongated head lamps.

Mitsubishi Concept AR Features

The Mitsubishi Concept AR is a compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle, or MPV. It combines the maneuverability of a crossover and the roominess of a minivan. It also combines a hybrid system and a 1.1L Turbocharged MIVEC Engine. The Concept AR sits high off the ground and is a little more boxy than current crossover designs. The windshield and side windows blend together and give the appearance of a single window running along the top half of the vehicle. The front of the Concept AR has thin but long headlamps that connect above the front grille. It has more of a “blunt-nose” design with a rectangular grille.

Mitsubishi Concept GR-HEV Features

The Mitsubishi Concept GR-HEV is a new concept called a Sport Utility Truck (SUT) that will deliver better driving and environmental performance. From the front, the Concept GR-HEV resembles a crossover and gradually transforms into a contoured pickup-truck. The Concept GR-HEV has aluminum front air dams, LED headlights and LED rear combination tail lights. It is powered by a diesel-hybrid system with a 2.5L clean-diesel engine and a Hybrid Electric Vehicle system. Also included is the Super All-Wheel Control All-Wheel Drive system.

Mitsubishi Concept PX MiEV

The Concept PX MiEV is another conceptual SUV. The unique feature of the Concept PX MiEV is that it is powered by three systems, a permanent electric motor in the front, a separate second electric motor in the back an efficient MIVEC gas-powered engine that serves as a generator and can power the front wheels. The clean diesel engine is a low emissions 2.2L 4-cylinder DOHC turbo with an output of 201 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. These three systems work together to maximize efficiency and range. When driving at slow to moderate speeds, the SUV operates as an all-electric vehicle with zero emissions and front wheel drive. If this Mitsubishi concept vehicle senses that the road conditions have unfavorably changed, it will automatically provide power to the rear motor and turn on rear wheel drive and make it a safe all-wheel drive vehicle.

Mitsubishi Concept CA-MiEV

The Mitsubishi Concept CA-MiEV is a prototype of what Mitsubishi believes electric cars will look like in the near future. The silhouette of the car is reminiscent of a teardrop and is very aerodynamic. The head and tail lights are sharp in style and faceted like a diamond. The windshield continues up over the top of the car for a streamlined look. This Mitsubishi concept car is powered by an electric motor, inverter and charger. The battery is a 28 kWh lithium-ion pack that has a current driving range of 185 miles.

Mitsubishi Concept MiEV Evolution II

The MiEV Evolution II is a new racing prototype that was designed specifically for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado Springs, CO. It has a four-motor drivetrain, Super All-Wheel Control, tube-like frame, high-capacity lithium-ion batteries, and aerodynamically-enhanced carbon-fiber body. The reason it was built for the Hill Climb was so that it could collect important data about the functioning of various components in extreme changes in weather, air pressure and temperature. The collection of this data will help the company better prepare its prototypes and current vehicles for future development.
