Mitsubishi Hints At Future Evo Vehicle

While production of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo may be over now that the 2015 model has been released, the automaker has hinted that the spirit of the legendary Evo will be seen in the heart of a future electric vehicle from the brand. According, to the brand, a future Evo-inspired model would be the “king” of electric vehicles with the same high performance capabilities as the outgoing Evo model, but in the body of a small crossover rather than a sedan.

“In the future, we would like to launch such a vehicle with Evo characteristics. In Japanese, when you pronounce ‘Oh’ [in Evo], it means ‘king’. So we would like to launch this type of car, featuring EV and PHEV technology, which is the ultimate of its kind. ‘EV’ for electric vehicle, ‘O’ for king – Evo,” Mitsubishi President and COO Tetsuro Aikawa told Autocar.

Mitsubishi does not have any immediate plans to begin developing this future model, but we will be sure to keep you informed on when production does begin.
