Younger Mitsubishi wants to take a moment to talk about the younger generation. We know that the prospect of finding the right car seat for your child can be scary and overwhelming. So, our team at Younger Mitsubishi has compiled a guide for choosing car seats to help parents make more informed decisions when it comes to vehicle safety. We’ll go over the different options for children of varying ages in the guide below so check it out and drive without worrying if your child is well secured.

Car Seats For Infants:

  • Infant-Only Car Seats can be used for newborns and babies up to 20/22 lbs or until their head is within 1 inch of the top of the seat. These carriers simply snap in and out of car seat bases that remain secured in the vehicle allowing for easier transitions in and out of the car. Some are even compatible with snap in stroller bases making them very convenient.
  • Convertible Seats may be used as rear-facing seats until your child weighs at least 30 pounds and then the seat can be reinstalled as front-facing for 2 years or more. This option is not portable however and remains fixed in the car.

Car Seats For Toddlers:

  • Forward-Facing Only Car Seats can usually accommodate children up to 65 lbs, but you should always refer to the seat’s manual for maximum height and weight specifications.
  • Combination Car Seats function with a harness until the child is 40-65lb, at which point you can remove the harness and convert the seat to a seatbelt fastened booster used for children 80-100lbs.

Car Seats For Preschoolers:

  • Belt-Positioning Boosters with lap/shoulder belts are recommended for children 80-100lbs and most kids need boosters from about 3 or 4 to about 8 years old. If your car’s back seats are low be sure to get a high-back booster so your child’s head and neck are supported adequately.

Younger Mitsubishi hopes our guide helped you feel better prepared to take on the road with your child.
