Summertime is a great time to travel with the family. The kids are out of school, it’s warm out, and adventures are just waiting for you! Since most families will venture out on a road trip at least once during the summer, you have an arsenal of kid-friendly movies to have on deck in case the kiddos become a little antsy during the drive. I suggest any that might be a family favorite, every kid has a favorite movie and just like that you can save yourself at least an hour and a half by popping in a movie for the kids. I also suggest bringing one or two new movies that no one has watched yet. Get them excited about them and let them choose which one they want to watch. This way the kids feel like they’ve made the choice!

Cars: I Love this move for a lot of reasons, one being I think it is a really good movie! Despite that this movie is great for the car ride because for one it’s all about cars, which the kids are in and they will be creative coming up with car fantasies even after the movie is over. Second, the movie takes place along the famous route 66 which will get the kids excited to go on their own adventure, aka your road trip.

UP: This whole movie is an adventure! This movie will easily keep the kids entertained and super excited about their own adventure that they are on!

Finding Nemo or Finding Dory: These two movies are great movies on their own, but they are also jam-packed with adventure for the kids. In both movies, the fish leave home and go off to places they are unsure of, similar to the child going on vacation. It shows that even if it might be different and scary at times, it is also fun and worth it in the end!

No matter what movies you bring remember to have enough for the ride back! We often find ourselves prepared for the ride there but fall short on the ride home. Make sure the kids can be entertained with different movies for each way, you’ll thank yourself later!
